There is no single best antidepressant medication. Research studies suggest that different people respond better to some antidepressant medications than others, but that it is hard to predict who will have the best response. Thus some trial and error may be necessary and it can take up to 12 weeks to know if the antidepressant is working well. If it does not work well, there are many other ones to try and your clinical team can work with you to find the right one.
