This special series is co-presented by SMI Adviser, a Clinical Support System for Serious Mental Illness; and by NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. SMI Adviser is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and administered by the American Psychiatric Association. This episode is hosted by John Moe, an author and podcaster who interviews people and writes about mental health, and Dr. Ken Duckworth, a psychiatrist and the Chief Medical Officer of NAMI. They are joined by Dr. Blaise Aguirre, a psychiatrist who specializes and trains practitioners in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). DBT is a type of talk therapy especially effective for people who have difficulty managing and regulating their emotions. The hosts also interview an individual who has benefited greatly from DBT about her recovery journey.
