People with serious mental illness have often had difficulty in school. Education is frequently a goal of individuals, is beneficial for individuals and society, and can have a positive effect on psychiatric illness. Supported education is a structured, team-based approach to obtaining and supporting educational goals. There are proven approaches to implementing and providing supported education services. People with serious mental illness should receive supported employment services.
