Crisis Resolution Teams (CRTs) provide short-term intensive home treatment to people experiencing a mental health crisis. Key characteristics of CRTs include easy access, rapid response, 24 hour service, team-based and multi-disciplinary care, and ability to provide medical, psychological and social services. In contrast to Assertive Community Treatment teams, Crisis Resolution Teams (CRTs) provide short-term, intensive home treatment with the aim of averting hospital admission or supporting people to return home as promptly as possible following an acute admission. CRTs can serve in a gatekeeping role, assessing all patients before admission to acute psychiatric wards and deciding whether they are appropriate for home treatment. A fidelity scale can be used to identify the critical elements of these programs if you are considering implementing the program in your organization.
