The evidence-based resource guide Psychosocial Interventions for Older Adults With Serious Mental Illness is available on the SAMHSA Publications site. This guide provides considerations and strategies for interdisciplinary teams, peer specialists, clinicians, registered nurses, behavioral health organizations, and policymakers in understanding, selecting, and implementing evidence-based interventions that support older adults with serious mental illness. Current evidence shows the effectiveness of the following practices and programs for older adults with SMI: Assertive Community Treatment; Cognitive Behavioral Social Skills Training; skills training, including Functional Adaptation Skills Training and Programa de Entrenamiento para el Desarrollo de Aptitudes para Latinos; Integrated Illness Management and Recovery; and Helping Older People Experience Success. Each of these is detailed in the guide with implementation recommendations.
