Today, there is not evidence that social media use like Facebook can cause relapse in schizophrenia. Little is actually known about the role of social media and how it affects mental health and illnesses like schizophrenia. For some people, social media may make them feel worse. For other people, it may make them feel better and more connected. If you think social media is making you feel different or distracting you from goals, you should bring this up with your clinical team. You do not need to feel embarrassed or that you are talking about something not relevant if you bring up social media in a clinical appointment.
