There are many smartphone apps available today for the iPhone and Android Phones. Some of these apps can be helpful with your care but none can be a replacement. Some people use apps to help them remember to take medications, be on time for appointments, or practice therapy skills. If you are interested in apps, you should talk to your clinical team. You can also learn more by visiting the American Psychiatric Association’s App Evaluation Model and watching this free SMI Adviser webinar: Informed Decision Making for Picking SMI Smartphone Apps (February 2019). You want to be careful in picking apps to use as some may not be private and could put your personal data at risk. Others may not be effective and could waste your time. But some can be useful and you can find them by working together with your clinical team.
